We asked our followers to send in a short story about their love for a chance to win Rain Publishing’s What’s Your Love Story? Challenge 2015, and on February 11, 2015, we announced our winner, Ms. Terri Brown of Georgia! We chose her story because we believe it embodies the true meaning of love, which includes acceptance, forgiveness, and restoration. Read her story below:

Terri’s Love Story

Eight years ago my husband and I separated with no hope of forgiveness or healing, let alone of any restoration in sight. When he left we were bitter, angry, and resentful towards one another. I moved to another state with our children and for eight long years we didn’t see one another. We had phone conversations, but it was always a war. Accusations, blame, and hostility were always present during our conversations, so we kept them few and far between. I never thought that I could forgive him (nor did I want to at the time); healing and restoration was definitely out of the picture for me. Every time someone would suggest that God wanted to restore our marriage I would reject it. He moved on to another relationship while I just moved on in my life, career, and ministry. We continued like this until one day God began to deal with me, by this time my heart was beginning to heal and I wanted nothing more than to please the Lord. I love the loving-kindness of the Lord and his tender mercies that are new every morning. Over the last few months God has been allowing he and I to talk about the mistakes, hurts, and the wounds that we inflicted upon one another, and healing as well as forgiveness has begun. We have repented to one another, asked each other for forgiveness and he even has been spending great quality time with the children. Restoration is in process and God and only God can get the glory for the things that he is doing!
